TEAM SPOTLIGHT: KATE HORVATH, HR & PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR

How many years have you been with FaverGray?
I graduated from Adrian College, in Michigan and was introduced to FaverGray after moving to Florida last summer. My professional background started with the entertainment and hospitality industry, I stumbled upon construction by chance and it has been a great career move! I’ve been with FaverGray for about a year and a half.

Describe your role at FaverGray
I handle anything related to employee paychecks, benefits, or general employee relations/HR

What word do you think best describes our company culture?
Tenacious

Who Inspires You:
Without naming anyone in particular – I am inspired by “the underdog.” When you’re not a first-round pick, or necessarily A1 on paper, but the person works hard to prove themselves and show that hard work can outplay talent – that’s the best kind of inspiration for me.

 Favorite Part of your Career:
The Human Resources part of my job is my favorite! In actuality and by definition I am literally a resource for the employees of my company to many sure that they can utilize the benefits that are provided to them in the way that best works for their families. I know how confusing and frustrating it can be trying to navigate the healthcare system, especially when you or a family member is sick and I like being able to provide a little peace of mind whenever possible.

Best Career Lesson:
Accountability and dependability are some of the most important attributes you can bring with you to work every day. It’s unlikely that someone will be perfect all the time, but if you are someone that your team can depend on, that counts for a lot!

What do you do for fun/hobbies?
I enjoy playing or watching almost all sports, spending time outdoors with my family, and cooking or entertaining. If I can’t be outside and it isn’t a game day, I am a true crime and history buff.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
I grew up on a farm and trained/showed horses for 15 years

Where is the best place you have traveled to?
Despite having a hefty amount of stamps in my passport, my favorite trip to date was New Orleans and I can’t wait to go back and explore more of the old city – and the food!

If you could meet anyone living or deceased, who would it be and why?
Chris Farley – That would just be ONE FUNNY round of drinks!

What is your motto or personal mantra?
“There may be people that have more talent than you, but there’s no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do” – DJ
