Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a competitive individual that relishes a good challenge. Having been involved and successful in competitive sports at an early age I’ve always had the desire to excel and that passion has carried over into my career. Personal goals are important, but having a family of my own has seen me focus more on helping others (kids and co-workers) achieve those same aspirations and it is just as rewarding if not more so than my own.
How many years (or months) have you been with FaverGray?
10 yrs (5/28/2012)
What is your education/certification background?
BS Building Construction Management – Michigan State University
Tell us about some of your previous work experience.
I’ve spent the majority of my career building multifamily projects with a focus in the Midwest and SE US. Early in my career I also built several semi-custom home communities and dabbled in Industrial Development for a short term. Ultimately I came back to multifamily where I could utilize my talents and experience the best. My roles have been split across the office and field and have provided me with a well-rounded understanding of our dynamic industry.
Why did you join the FaverGray Team?
FaverGray was an opportunity to get back to my bread and butter (MF Contracting) with a growing new company where I could best utilize my talents to better the brand and my professional growth. FaverGray checked all the boxes for me.
What is your favorite part of your career?
“Trees to Keys”! Taking an unimproved parcel of land and transforming it into a finished project.
In a few words, describe what you/your team does for FaverGray.
The MF Division manages a portfolio of construction projects comprised of market-rate apartments and student housing properties for select clients/customers. My focus is on those respective projects, customers, and project teams to provide the oversight, guidance, and direction for a successful completion while enhancing the brand and professional growth of all team members.
What word do you think best describes our company culture?
Dynamic
What advice would you give to someone interested in a career in construction?
Be prepared for everything. One day you’re a lawyer, another day a contractor, psychologist, engineer, architect, etc. Construction can encompass so many different things on any given day.
Who inspires you?
My parents. They came to this country as teenagers and refugees during WWII and accomplished so many things with little to no assistance. They learned English, became citizens, put themselves through college, served in the military, earned post-graduate degrees, raised a family, and so much more. They set the bar high.
How do you define success?
Seeing the efforts and hard work of multiple people working together toward a common goal and achieving it. It never gets old.
What do you do for fun/hobbies?
Golf, fishing, and spending time engaged in my children’s club volleyball activities.
Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
I was drafted to play Major Junior Hockey at 17, having played competitively from an early age and winning state and national championships on those teams.
Where is the best place you have traveled?
Abaco, Bahamas.
What is the next place on your travel bucket list?
Estonia.
What is your motto or personal mantra?
You get out of it what you put into it!
